SPLIT INTEIN-MEDIATED PROTEIN MODIFICATION

Splittera is a tool for site-specific protein modification, both in vivo and in vitro.

The use of ZIP’s split inteins can form a covalent bond between a protein and virtually any kind of molecule, including other proteins, fluorescent probes, peptides, DNA or a chemical compound.

Splittera applications in bioconjugation:

– Conjugation of a fluorescent probe to the N- or C-terminus of a protein

– Generation of large libraries of cyclic peptides for drug discovery

Protein cyclization to increase protein stability

– Generation of high molecular weight protein-based polymers
